Pursuant to the Law on the Organisations and Scope of Ministries and Other State Administration Organisations (OG 199/03, 30/04, 136/04, 22/05, 44/06, 5/08, 27/08), the Central State Administrative Office for e-Croatia executes the administrative duties and provides professional expertise concerning the development of the information system within the state administration and establishes the technological and security informatics infrastructure within the bodies of the state administration. One of the main tasks of the Office is the coordination of connecting information systems of state administration bodies into a unified information and communication network and adopting technical and normative regulations for the use of the information equipment within the state administration bodies. The Department of International Cooperation of the Central State Administrative Office for e-Croatia is separately responsible for the adoption of professional and normative basis for the integration of the Republic of Croatia to the European Union in the areas of development and implementation of the information and communication technologies (i2010).

The Central State Administrative Office for e-Croatia also executes activities concerning the monitoring and coordinating of the projects in the areas of information and communication technologies within the state administration bodies and participates in adopting and monitoring the implementation of acts and other regulations in the area of implementation of the information and communication technologies in the Republic of Croatia. Promoting and systematically improving the development of the Internet infrastructure in the Republic of Croatia; as well as raising the level of public accessibility to the Internet services and contents, the development of the application of information and communication technology, the system of electronic administration, electronic education, electronic health care and electronic business, are also important tasks of the Central State Administrative Office for e-Croatia.

The state administration integrated into the electronic administration system contributes to the increase in the efficacy and transparency of the state administration business operations, increase in the competitiveness of the Croatian economy and inclusion of all social groups into the development of the information society, regardless of the differences.
