Implementation objective of activities related to healthcare system informatisation in 2009 is the finalisation of informatisation of the general family medicine and the primary healthcare (PZZ).
Likewise, as regards social care, the Social Care Development Project (PRSS) is implemented. Its goal is to develop social care system in which the user/individual is in the centre of attention of the system driven by results as well as the systems simple use.
The Social Care Development System (PRSS) is implemented through three components: improvement of the social care provision, strengthening of management-information system within the social care and improvement of the existing infrastructure in social care institutions. The final goal of the informatisation of the social care system is design, implementation and maintenance of the integral information system capable of exchanging data with other entities.

Information system of the primary health care
Activities will be conducted in three phases by 2010. First phase includes delivery of hardware and system programme equipment and new functionalities. Second phase includes creation of the reporting system for the Ministry of Health and Social Care, Croatian National Institute of Public Health, Croatian Institute for Health Insurance and Croatian Institute for Health Insurance of Health Protection at Work. This phase will also include the connection of pharmacies with electronic guidelines for subscription of medicaments and primary health care laboratories to the central system. Third phase includes the same manner of connecting specialist consultation activities, gynaecologists, paediatricians, school medicine surgeries, dentists and units for central ordering in 66 Croatian hospitals to the central system.
CIHI Portal
The Croatian Institute for Health Insurance initiated CIHI Portal project in alignment with the Primary Health Care Informatisation project. CIHI (HZZO) Portal provides safe electronic data exchange with the entities of the Croatian health care system. The implementation of the pilot project for introduction of smart card into the health care systems is also in the pipeline.
eHealthcare
eHealthcare service enables simpler submission of healthcare insurance application for employers, saving valuable time and the possibility to submit the application from own office. The former classical manner of application for healthcare insurance on the Internet site
www.hzzo-net.hr has been upgraded with the possibility of direct electronic application. The project objectives are modernisation and informatisation of business operation, disburdening of CIHI desks, offering simpler business operations to employers with CIH, better quality service, standardisation and benefits of introduction of electronic form technology.
